GCYSA Inclement Weather Policy:
No games will be cancelled prior to game time. Cancellations will be made on a game-by-game basis at game time by field supervisors and only for extreme weather (lightning, freezing rain, flooding, etc.). If enough players are present, the game will be played, if weather is not extreme.
It is up to the individual parent to decide whether a child is permitted to play (rain, cold, wet ground, etc.).
GCYSA General Information for Coaches, Parents, and Volunteers General Notes:
- All vehicles must be parked inside the fenced area of the fields. Vehicles parked outside the fenced area may be ticketed or towed – at owner’s expense.
- Parents are responsible for keeping parking areas, fields, and practices areas free of debris. Trash must be placed in appropriate receptacles.
- No child will be allowed to practice or play without having completed the registration process.
- Shirts for new players will be handed out by the age group coordinator as soon as possible.
- All children are required to have the following equipment:
- ball
- U-6 size 3
- U-8 size 4
- U-10 size 4
- U-12 size 4
- U-14 size 5

- cleats (without a toe cleat)
- water bottle
- Teams playing the first game of the day are responsible for having all lines painted and the field ready before game time.
- Teams playing the last game of the day are required to empty trash into the dumpster.
Coaches:
- You are responsible for ensuring the fields are maintained (grass cut, fields striped, trash removed).
- Field trash receptacles are to be emptied in the dumpster following the last game of the day.
- Have first aid kit available (the concession stand has limited items).
- Have practice cones.
- Have a cell phone available (check with parents).
- With the exception of the U-6 age group, coaches should stay within your team area and minimize yelling instructions from the sidelines during game times.
- Get an assistant or two – ask parents to help.
- Create a phone tree.
- Bring a small blanket or table to assemble your team before the start of the game.
- Remember as the coach – you don’t win games, you teach kids!
- Try to always have the children in motion – they hate waiting!
- Don’t just explain – show them!
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: We are here to teach kids the game of soccer and HAVE FUN!
